TAMMITE (Ferro-tungstine) : An incomplete description of material containing tungsten, iron, a small amount of manganese, and undetermined constituents was published by Tamm in 1872, for which the name crookesite was proposed.
— (Paul Francis Kerr, Tungsten Mineralization in the United States, 1946)Under these circumstances Mr. Crookes suggests that, as soon as the missing constituent be identified, the new mineral may appropriately be designated Tammite.
