[modifier le wikicode]- (1838) Mot créé par le géologue américain Ebenezer Emmons [1] du grec ancien εὖ, eu-, « bien », πῦρ, pûr, « feu », et χροιά, khroiá, « couleur, teint », à cause de sa belle phosphorescence lorsque chauffée.
